Child Safety Day held in Highland Lakes - Vernon, NJ - 9/30/2012 Last Sunday in the parking lot of the Highland Lakes Clubhouse, members of law enforcement helped parents to ensure that their children�s child safety seats were properly installed and in good working order. Workers and volunteers came from the Vernon Police Department, the Newton Police Department, the Sussex County Sheriff�s Office, the Pequannock Police Depart, the North New Jersey Safe Kids organization, the Highland Lakes Fire Department, and the Vernon Ambulance Squad. The children got to explore fire engines and an ambulance.

Multi-vehicle crash on Breakneck Road - Vernon, NJ - 9/30/2012 Last Sunday at around 4:45 p.m. a multi-vehicle crash brought both the downhill and uphill lanes to a close. The crash occurred a few hundred feet east and uphill of the entrance to Tavern on the Mountain at the Hidden Valley Ski Resort. Police arrived several minutes after the crash.

The Endorphin 5k and 2k Run-Walk at Wild West City 2012 took place on September 29, 2012. Wild West City is in Stanhope, New Jersey. Two hundred runners of all ages particpated. The purpose of the annual charity race is to raise funds and awareness about brain diseases. Proceeds go to the non profit group Irene & Eric Simon Brain Research Foundation.
