Chef Dan Lemire of Chumleys BBQ and Catering of Florida, N.Y. is shown cooking up some ribs at the fourth annual Rock, Ribs and Ridges music and food festival held last weekend at Hidden Valley Resort. Lemire attended the Culinary Institute of America and this year’s ribs were available with a variety of sauces including Root Beer, Fired Up, and Apple Garlic.The event started on Saturday and although the rains had passed they left behind milky skies and plenty of mud that organizers covered with hay spread throughout the concert grounds.

Sacha Dorsey of the Vernon Valley Karate Academy is shown performing a “kata” or repetitive training exercise at this year’s Vernon Day held at Maple Grange Park. With far more vendors and participating organizations than in previous years, there also appeared to be many more residents attending under fair blue skies and passing, puffy, white clouds. Temperatures were also comfortable which made the very long walk from the distant parking areas much more tolerable.

The Milford Food and Wine Faire took place on Saturday, June 1, 2013. The location of the event was at the historic Hotel Fauchere on Broad Street in Milford, Pennsylvania. Guests got the chance to sample food and wine produced by vineyards and eateries of the Keystone State. The event was put together by the Upstate Wine Country organization and Hotel Fauchere.

The weather, although unseasonably warm, was generally good during the annual St. Stephen’s Parish Bazaar, which opened Thursday, May 30 and ran through Sunday, June 2.
The event raffle tickets read, “Rain or Shine,” and, although clear blue skies and mild temperatures are usually the case at this time of year, it was cloudy skies and light rain for Winslow Therapeutic Center’s 23rd Annual Duck Derby.
Firefighters Rib Eating Contest - Sussex, N.J. - 5/18/2013
For the love of ribs… For the third year in a row Hunter Space, 18, of the Beemerville Fire Department won the Sussex Franklin Auto Mall’s Rib Eating Contest on Saturday. Space won $500 that will go towards the needs of his department. According to his dad Assemblyman Parker Space, the lad practices at home every night.Additional competing fire departments won $100 for their respective departments. The ribs were supplied by renowned rib master Eric Figueroa from the Double S Diner. The event is a prelude to the annual Rocks, Ribs, and Ridges music and ribs festival to be held at the Hidden Valley Club in Vernon on June 8 and 9. This year’s headliner is the legendary Charlie Daniels.
